- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup brown sugar (100g)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until bubbly. Mix in sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and half the flour. Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the filling: Combine chopped apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Assemble the babka: Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread apple filling evenly, then roll tightly into a log shape. Cut lengthwise and twist together.
- Second rise: Place braided dough in a greased loaf pan; let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
