  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium russet or Yukon Gold potatoes (about 1.5 lbs), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Add diced onions halfway through cooking until soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. While the beef is cooking, wash and slice the potatoes into quarter-inch rounds.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the cooked beef mixture and half of the cheese. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Pour evenly over the casserole.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove foil during the last 10 minutes to achieve a golden crust.
