  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp green gel food coloring
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: Crushed peppermint candies for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and green food coloring until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips (and crushed peppermint if using).
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls onto the prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are golden; centers should look slightly underbaked.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on wire racks before serving.
