Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat sugar and vegetable oil until blended. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until smooth.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
- Fill cupcake liners halfway with batter. Dollop some reserved cocoa batter on top and swirl gently using a toothpick.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before frosting.
