  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup toasted pecans (chopped)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the eggs, softened butter, and milk until smooth. Combine with dry ingredients and stir gently until just blended.
  4. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans before transferring to wire racks.
  5. Once cooled, layer the cakes with caramel sauce and chopped pecans in between. Frost the top and sides with chocolate frosting, drizzle more caramel on top, and garnish with additional pecans.
