Description
Beef Stroganoff is a classic comfort dish that combines tender strips of beef with earthy mushrooms and sweet onions, all enveloped in a rich, creamy sauce. This easy recipe is perfect for cozy family dinners or gatherings, served over egg noodles or rice to satisfy every craving.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces fresh button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 cup full-fat sour cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients: chop the onion and garlic, slice the mushrooms, and cut the beef into thin strips against the grain.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add onions and sauté until translucent. Then add garlic and mushrooms; cook until browned (about 5 minutes).
- Push the vegetables to one side; add seasoned beef strips. Brown on all sides without cooking through completely.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture; stir well to combine. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Let simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Lower heat; stir in Worcestershire sauce and sour cream until creamy and well mixed.
- Serve over egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
