  • 14 oz firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Add tofu cubes and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Lightly coat each cube with cornstarch.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry tofu until golden brown on all sides (about 3–4 minutes per side).
  5. In a separate bowl, mix additional soy sauce and maple syrup with a splash of water. Pour this mixture into the pan after frying tofu; simmer until thickened.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
