Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk and granulated sugar in a bowl, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add melted butter and the yeast mixture; mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, chopped nuts, cinnamon, and melted butter until it resembles wet sand.
  6. Roll risen dough into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick), spread the filling evenly, then roll tightly into a log.
  7. Cut the log into pieces about 1 inch thick and arrange them in a greased baking dish or parchment-lined trays.
  8. Allow buns to rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Drizzle with honey while warm before serving.
