- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 4 Italian bread rolls
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Heat marinara sauce in a skillet over medium heat. Form the meat mixture into meatballs and place gently into the sauce. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes until cooked through.
- Slice Italian rolls lengthwise without cutting through. Place rolls on a baking sheet.
