Prepare the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Make a well in the center and add the maple syrup and plant-based milk.
- Mix until a soft dough forms. If desired, fold in the raisins and caraway seeds.
Shape and Bake
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Score a deep cross on the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
